    Description

American Eaglehead Officer's Saber C. 1830. 29" curved blade retains just traces of engraved decoration and gilt. Generally gray with scattered salt and peppering with a few spots showing pitting a bit heavier. Heavy plain round faced reverse P guard with shield shaped langets and disc quillon. Very nice large eaglehead with exceptional carved and checkered one piece bone grip. Just one tiny, really negligible chip at top. The hilt with overall nice dark patina retaining 10% of an original silver wash. The scabbard, which is probably a replacement, exhibits traces of gilt with line decoration on the brass mounts. Very sound with finish crackling but minimal flaking. Nice representative eaglehead saber.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
