    A Superb and Very Rare Shin Shinto Signed and Date Katana by Korekazu.

    The blade of naginata style with 76.3 cm. cutting edge and 13 cm. kissaki (point). The blade in full polish with beautiful naginata grooves and exuberant choji medare hamon with ashi. Ubu nakago in pristine condition. Full Korekazu signature and date. Brass habaki with pierced with Tokugawa mon. Condition of excellent. Blade in full polish with minor ware in ha but otherwise no significant kizu. Blade is massive. Korekazu one of the rarest Shin Shinto smiths. Jo Saku in fujishiro. Magnificent blade comes in elaborate iron handashi mounts with excellent iron fuchikasura. Large rectangular chiseled iron Tsuba with gold highlights. Kurikata and Kochiri en suite. Koiguchi. Spiral rib lacquer saya. Condition of mounts, excellent. Presentation quality same. String wrap. Menuki of gold water buffalo. Kozuka kogai are missing. A truly spectacular sword and beautiful mounts by an important and rare swordsmith. Saya as elaborate and finely done sayagaki. With NBTHK Hozon.
