    First edition. Signed by the author on the front free endpaper as well as bearing an inscription by his son Romer: "To Betty/ Yours Always,/ Romer.". Octavo. 253 pages. With illustrations in color by Charles S. Chapman and Frank Street.

    Original black cloth with color illustration affixed to front board and titles and rules stamped in gilt and the front board and spine. Light wear to boards, trivial toning to contents. Rare dust jacket remains bright with a few minor areas of loss along the edges and spine ends, and the front panel is partially detached from the spine panel, however it is preserved in a protective mylar cover. A most attractive copy in very good condition.
