    Thomas Carlyle's Landmark History of the French Revolution

    Thomas Carlyle. The French Revolution: a History. London: James Fraser, 1837. First edition of this PMM title. Three octavo volumes. Bound with half-titles. Finely bound by Zaehnsdorf in near contemporary full blue straight-grain morocco, boards double-ruled in gilt, spine tooled in gilt in compartment, each volume with two burgundy gilt morocco lettering labels, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves, top edges gilt. Spines a bit sunned, headcap of volume III with a tear, some edgewear and rubbing to bindings. Very good. Housed in a modern slipcase. From a private collection from New Orleans.
