    More Information:

Johann Roszfeld (a.k.a. Rosinus), born ca. 1550 and educated at Jena, was sub-rector of a school at Ratisbon as well as minister of a Lutheran church at Wickerstadt (Weimar). He was subsequently called to preach at the cathedral church in Naumburg, Saxony, where he remained until he ultimately died of the plague in 1626. This work, first printed at Basel in 1585, was at first censured by critics, but nevertheless went through several editions. Rosinus was the first to compose a body of Roman antiquities. Borroni 7961:3. Cicognara 3861 (later ed.). Kissner 388 and 1007 (earlier eds.).
