    More Information:

This is the Delphine edition with the added books by Freinsheim who tried to fill in the missing sections. It is a scarce edition and not noticed in several of the early bibliographies.

The general editor of the Delphine edition was Pierre Daniel Huet (1630-1721) who was the teacher of the Grand Dauphin, the son of Louis XIV. Nearly 60 volumes were produced in a period of less than 12 years for a cost of nearly £15,000 (about $75,000, according to Sandys). Each of the editions had a Latin commentary, ordo verborum below the text, and a complete verbal index. Sandys' notes that despite all efforts the King's son limited his readings after completion of his formal education to the Gazette de France. Curtius Rufus wrote this history of Alexander the Great under Claudius or Vespasian. "The author is an excellent story-teller and makes the most of many thrilling or picturesque incidents in the Asiatic expedition..."[OCCL]  Schweiger I,321. Hardwood 243. Not in Moss, or Dibdin.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
