    Folio. [2], xii, 722, 65 Appendix, [15, Index and Contents] pages. Engraved frontispiece portrait of Queen Anne. Engraved plate. One fold-out map with the plan of attacks at the "Battle of Bleinheim". One hand-colored fold-out map of the "Town of Lille". Three pages of engraved medallion illustrations. Large engraved head- and tail-piece vignettes, large engraved initials. Minor image off-set.


    Bound in full calf with gilt rules and blind stamped decorative borders on boardsrebacked. New spine with six raised bands and old gilt lettered leather title label and rules in compartments. Binding rubbed and scuffed with scratches, chips and surface leather losses. Corners bumped, lower left corner of rear board bent, and fore-edge of both boards dented. Few small holes and tracks in lower margins from front pastedown to 7H1, not affecting text. "Town of Lille" map with an approximately two-and-a-half inch diagonal tear from the inner margin into the image area. Twelfth unnumbered index page corner diagonally trimmed, no affect to text. Pages with foxing and off-set from texts on facing pages to varying degrees, occasional soiling, light edge wear, few corner bends and creases. Very good.
