    [Engravings]. [King Charles I]. [Prints of the History of King Charles the First]. London: [1728]. Collection of ten engraved plates, depicting important incidents in the life of King Charles I, including the English Civil War and his execution. Oblong folio (16.75 x 20.25 inches; 428 x 550 mm). Engraved by Sardieu, Vandergucht, Harris, Dupuis and others. Bound in contemporary full brown calf, boards decoratively ruled and paneled in blind, gilt black morocco lettering labels on both boards. Binding quite worn, joints cracking at upper and lower portions of spine, labels damaged with some loss of text. Joints cracking, plates toned with some light thumbsoiling, some marginal worm damage to endleaves and blanks, with some worm damage to plates (with minor loss), a few short tears to plates (not affecting images or text). A good copy of an interesting depiction of the life and death of King Charles I.

    The plates are: The Marriage of the King 1625; Hull Summoned by the King 3rd April 1642; The King's Declaration to his Gentry & Army in September 1642; The Revolt of the Fleet; The Battle of Naisby; The King Siezed [sic] by Joyce at Holmby house June the 4th 1647; The King's Escape from Hampton Court 11 Nov, 1647; The Tryal of the King; King Charles taking leave of his Children 29th Jan. 1648/9; The Anotheosis or Death of the King.
