First edition. 4to, [i]-xi, [1, blank], -477 pages. Illustrated with engraved portraits under tissue guards. Publisher's original full calf over beveled boards. Titles stamped in gilt on the front board and spine. All edges gilt. Only one volume was published and contains important information on Frémont's expeditions, the Santa Fe Trail, the Second Ute War, livestock, etc.
Condition: Wear to the edges of the boards and corners, with some minor material loss to spine; hinges starting, else a solid copy in very good condition.
