Two quarto volumes. Two frontispieces in addition to "Map of Peru" and "Fac Simile of Two Signatures of Francisco Pizarro." Modern quarter leather over marble paper covered boards, spines paneled and stamped in gilt, all edges speckled. Marbled endpapers. Board edges somewhat rubbed with some abrasions, green paper covered boards showing at corners, spines slightly darkened; boards of Volume II a bit bowed. Text block edges lightly toned, bookplates on front pastedowns, a bit of text bleedthrough, occasional foxing, a few stains in outer margins with no effect to text. A very good set.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
