Publisher's brick red cloth decoratively stamped in gold and black. All volumes (except Volume IV) with cracked hinges; Volume V loose. Volumes rubbed and with general shelf wear, a few with minor fraying to cloth. Volume I with a few minor dampstains to textblock, Volume V with ink splotches to rear board and splitting to front joint. Plates generally fine. Overall, a very good set, sumptuously illustrated. Uncommon in a six-volume set, usually seen in two, and occasionally four, volumes. BAL 1732.2. Sabin 62692 (the two-volume edition).
