Dramatis Personae, 1935, 400 copies (this inscribed to Melba Berry Bennett from Albert Bender); The Death of Synge, and other Passages from an Old Diary, 1928, 400 copies; The Cat and the Moon and Certain Poems, 1924, 500 copies; Seven Poems and a Fragment, 1922, 500 copies; The Bounty of Sweden: A Meditation, and a Lecture Delivered Before the Royal Swedish Academy and Certain Notes by..... , 1925, 400 copies; Estrangement: Being Some Fifty Thoughts from a Diary Kept by William Butler Yeats in the Year Nineteen Hundred and Nine, 1926, 300 copies; Stories of Michael Robartes and His Friends: An Extract from a Record Made by His Pupils: and A Play in Prose by W. B. Yeats, 1931, 450 copies; Further Letters of John Butler Yeats: Selected by Lennox Robinson, 1920, 400 copies. Eight small quarto volumes in holland-backed boards stamped in black on the front cover and all but one volume with printed paper spine label. Light chipping to labels, and very minor soiling or toning to bindings. Altogether, very handsome examples, several of the books partially unopened. From the collection of California bibliophile Melba Berry Bennett, with her bookplate in the first title, inscribed to her by Albert Bender.

    Melba Berry Bennett was a descendant of Irish-Welsh-English pioneers and a second-generation Californian, Born in 1901 in Los Angeles. A scholar, poet, writer and bibliophile, Melba Bennett was an avid reader of poetry, and was drawn to the works of Robinson Jeffers in the 1930s. Years of loyal assistance to the Jeffers family, having gained the confidence of both Una and Robinson Jeffers, led to her being invited to do his authorized biography - a work fueled by admiration and respect. Mrs. Bennett was awarded the California Commonwealth Club's Silver Medal in 1966 for the Jeffers Biography (her extensive Jeffers collection was recently donated by her family to Tor House in Carmel California. Tor House was built in 1919 as a residence for Jeffers and his family, and is now preserved and available for visits). An avid and astute collector of first editions and early illuminated manuscripts, Mrs. Bennett's family is now releasing these excellent books for others to collect and enjoy.
