Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "Mary Nash Agnew/from her affectionate/nephew/Wm. Agnew Paton/March 1898). Quarto. 384 pages. Illustrated. Publisher's quarter white cloth over plain boards, printed paper label on spine. In publisher's pull-off box. Cloth spine a bit thumbsoiled and mildly foxed, minor rubbing to binding, faint foxing and offsetting to endleaves. Box has minor wear. Remnant of publisher's plain jacket is laid-in. Still, a fine copy.
