Willa Sibert Cather. April Twilights. Boston: Richard G. Badger, 1903. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "To Geraldine Kelly to remind / her of the good old times when / we read the Stout brothers / of the Eighteenth Century / together. / Willa Sibert Cather / December 8 / 1907." Octavo (7.5 x 5 inches; 190 x 125 mm.). Publisher's plain grayish brown paper-covered boards, printed paper labels affixed to the front board and spine. Paper label on spine chipped; crown chipped; spine a bit dull with some light wear; some rubbing to boards and board edges; light soiling to boards and paper labels; small hole at front joint. Still, a very good copy, housed in later slipcase. The author's first book, one she financed herself. Five years later, she purchased the remaining unsold copies and destroyed them. The full text was not republished until 1962. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.

More Information: Margaret Geraldine Kelly was a student at the University of Pittsburgh, and it is possible that here is where she met Cather, who may have been one of Kelly's teachers.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
