    1666 Edition of Walter Raleigh's History

    Walter Ralegh. The Historie of the World, in Five Books. London: Printed for Robert White, John Place, and George Dawes, 1666. Seventh edition. Folio. [66], 656-656 (same leaf paginated 656 on both sides), 659-1143, [53 (missing final blank?)] pages. Title printed in red and black. Additional engraved title page dated 1666, engraved portrait frontispiece, eight double-page maps / plates. Woodcut initials and some charts in the text. Contemporary mottled calf with black leather spine title label lettered in gilt. Chipping at spine ends. Some abrading to boards. Abraded joints and corners. Bookplate to front pastedown. Hinges starting. Occasional pencil underlining and marginal staining. Large area of soiling and a tobacco burn to 7G. A few tobacco burns otherwise. Small instance of worming, affecting a tiny portion of the last two maps. Very good.
