    More Information:

    W. R. Burnett. High Sierra. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1940. First edition. Octavo. [viii], 292, [1, blank], [1, note on the type], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's reddish-orange cloth, front board and spine lettered and stamped in gray, publisher's device stamped in gray on rear board; top edge stained red, others untrimmed; in original restored dust jacket, variant with "recent & forthcoming Borzoi Books" on the rear flap. Gently spine lean; spine ends and corners rubbed, bottom corners with boards just barely exposed. Series of small splashes to topstain. Dust jacket expertly restored at spine ends and along the upper edge, extending into some text on the rear panel; just a bit of color correcting to spine ends; light edgewear with a few close tears repaired; soft diagonal crease to upper margin of the rear flap; spine panel with the slightest degree of fading, a much brighter example than often encountered. Very good. From the KoKo Collection.

Source material for the 1941 Raoul Walsh film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ida Lupino with a screenplay by the author and John Huston. Revisited by Walsh in 1949 with the stellar western noir Colorado Territory starring Joel McCrea, Virginia Mayo and Dorothy Malone.
