    More Information:

    John Jasper Methvin (1846-1941) had served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. After leaving the army, he studied law and was accepted to the bar, but shortly thereafter received his calling and changed his career to preaching. He became a Methodist minister in 1870 and he, along with his wife, relocated to the Indian Territory where he became a missionary among the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache.
