Original black cloth, decorated in gilt with ornaments on front and back; boards ruled in blind. All edges trimmed, top edge stained red. Spines skewed; some wear to edges, joints and spine ends; corners bumped; slightly rubbed. Mild toning, spot staining to edges of text block. Evidence of dog-earing. Very good. Penzer, pp. 54-55.

Original black cloth, decorated in gilt with ornaments on front and back; boards ruled in blind. All edges trimmed, top edge stained red. Spines very slightly skewed; some wear to edges, joints and spine ends; mild rubbing. Some spot staining, foxing to edges and interior of text block. Very good. Penzer, pp. 73-74.

Spine slightly skewed; some wear to corners, joints and spine ends. Faint spotting to edges of text block. Near fine in a very good binding. With armorial bookplate of Edward Craddock Lowndes of Castle Combe affixed to front pastedown. Penzer, pp. 82-83.

Two maps, four colored plates, and in-text illustrations. Original black cloth, decorated in gilt with ornaments on front and back; boards ruled in blind. All edges trimmed, top edge stained red. Very mild shelf and joint wear; spine ends pushed; light rubbing, mostly visible only in raking light. Toning, very sparse foxing to edges of text block. Near fine. Penzer, pp. 63-64.
