    More Information: Richard F[rancis] Burton. The Land of Midian (Revisited). London: C. Kegan Paul & Co., 1879. First edition. Two volumes. Octavo. xxviii, 338; [viii], 319, [1, blank] pages. Six color and ten black-and-white plates, four of which are leaves of hieroglyphs; in-text illustrations; one folding map. Half dark green morocco over lighter green cloth; boards ruled in blind; spine stamped in gilt with five raised bands. All edges trimmed and marbled. Marbled endpapers. Mild toning to spines; wear to joints, spine ends, and corners; areas of white soiling to boards, principally to morocco with some drips to cloth. A few leaves in each volume with a scattering of very mild foxing. Short tear from edge of folding map extends into image but does not affect any text or land. Almost near fine text in good binding. With armorial bookplate of Sir James Liege Hulett, originator of the South African sugar empire and founder of Kearnsey College, affixed to rear pastedown (upside down) of first volume and front pastedown of second volume. The second of three books written about Burton's expeditions into the Midian in search of gold during 1877-1878. DNB; Penzer, pp. 96-97.
