More Information: John Hanning Speke. What Led to the Discovery of the Source of the Nile. Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1864. First edition. Octavo. [iii]-x, [2], 372 pages. Frontispiece, engraved folding map and double-page map  with added red line work. Modern full black cloth library binding; spine lettered in gilt. All edges trimmed. Extremely mild shelf wear at extremities of binding. Edges of text block mildly toned, with red stamp and green ink at top edge. First few leaves slightly yellowed with some thumb-soiling, spot-staining and one or two specks of foxing. Folding map torn along a few folds, but still sound. Lacking half-title. Ex-library copy, with corresponding pencil marks and a few small inked stamps. Very good. With bookplate of Buffalo & Erie County Public Library affixed to front pastedown.
