[2, title page], [2, dedication page] [3, contents], xxix, [1, blank], 310, [2, appendix I half-title page], [i-clxxix, appendix], [1, colophon] pages. Four folding maps and sixteen plates, with intertextual charts and illustrations. Contemporary calf, gilt lettering on spine, gilt borders on boards, five raised bands on spine, marbled painted edges. Marbled endpapers. A few scuffs on boards, head and tail pieces chipped with loss on spine, board edges rubbed, front joint starting at head, cracks and chipping to leather on spine with minor loss to gilt lettering of title, corners abraded. Text block edges toned, hinges cracked, bookplate on front pastedown, some foxing on plates, offsetting from plates onto facing pages, occasional thumbsoiling on outer margins and plates. Generally, a very good copy. Sabin 58860.
