    More Information:

"Hobhouse was born in 1786 and was thus two years older than Byron, with whom he first became friendly at Cambridge in 1807. Byron was first attracted to him because of their common interest in Juvenalian satire. They soon became fast friends and remained so throughout Byron's life. Byron respected Hobhouse's solid qualities and relied on his judgment, but they also shared a turn for the cynical and the facetious. Byron furnished the money for Hobhouse to accompany him on his first journey to the East in 1809. Hobhouse kept a diary and made notes which he used in his Journey through Albania ... (1813)."
