Embellished with one hundred and twenty portraits, from the Indian Gallery in the Department of War, at Washington. Philadelphia: Published by D. Rice & A.N. Hart, 1855. Third octavo edition, considered by many to be the best of the octavo editions, due to the skill used in the coloring. Three large octavo volumes. Approximately 10.25 x 6.75 inches. We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
