    First edition. Small octavo (approximately 6.25 x 4 inches). [xii], 550, [2, blank] pages.

    Near contemporary full calf, covers stamped in blind, spine stamped in gilt with burgundy gilt morocco lettering label. Some rubbing to boards, front joint loose, later library manuscript sticker on spine near tailcap, text toned, with some ink notations. Bookplate of the Zion Research Library. Overall, a good copy.

    Cobbet (1608-1685) came to New England in 1637 and served as minister in Lynn and later Ipswich. His discourse on prayer in all its forms, motives, ends, and techniques was very popular both here and abroad.
