Theodore Sturgeon. E Pluribus Unicorn (Inscribed and Signed) and More Than Human.Theodore Sturgeon. E Pluribus Unicorn (Inscribed and Signed) and More Than Human. Two important Sturgeon books, including: E Pluribus Unicorn, A Collection of Short Stories. New York: Abelard Press, [1953]. A compilation of fantasy tales, although some certainly border on horror. Tan cloth boards with black print on spine. Light wear overall with a few bumped corners and heavier wear at spine ends. Bookplate of Australian science fiction writer A. Bertram Chandler affixed to initial pastedown. Adjacent page shows light soiling and finger smudges where Sturgeon's inscription and signature appear: "For Jack Chandler, in many important ways, my shipmate. Theodore Sturgeon." Dust jacket is worn and chipped, with moderate soiling to verso and a few tears at spine ends. [and:] More Than Human. New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, [1953]. First edition, first printing. Octavo. 233 pages. Red paper wrappers with black cloth spine, silver lettering on spine. Boards are moderately worn with a few bumps to edges and corners, light soiling/sunning along upper edges. Spine ends show light to moderate wear. Textblock is fine save for small tears and creases at lower edge of initial flyleaf. Dust jacket is soiled on verso; several creases and small chips at extremities. More Than Human is one of Sturgeon's best-known works, winning the 1954 International Fantasy Award.
