Revised edition, with some additional information about Roosevelt's conduct and whereabouts during the battle of San Juan Hill; presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the second blank: "To / Mrs. Marion Crawford / from one of the many / men who are her / husband's debtors, / Theodore Roosevelt / Jan 1st 1907." Octavo (7.5 x 5 inches; 190 x 127 mm.). [4, blank], [xii], 315, [3, blank] pages. With portrait frontispiece and numerous plates inserted throughout. Bound in contemporary full brown calf, boards triple-ruled and paneled in gilt, gilt floral cornerpieces. Top edge gilt. Marbled endleaves. Rebacked in brown morocco, two green gilt morocco lettering labels, four raised bands. Rear joint cracked; front joint partially cracked; boards worn and thumbsoiled; hinges repaired with brown cloth tape; text toned; occasional foxing or thumbsoiling in text. Good. Elizabeth Berdan Crawford, the recipient, was the wife of novelist, Francis Marion Crawford. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.
