Theodore Noel. A Campaign From Santa Fe to the Mississippi; Being a History of the Old Sibley Brigade From Its First Organization to the Present Time; Its Campaigns in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, in the Years 1861-2-3-4. Shreveport: Shreveport News Printing Establishment, 1865. Octavo. 150 (of 152 pages), only remnants of last leaf present. Includes many useful rosters of organization, killed and wounded for the fourth, fifth and seventh Texas Cavalry. Contemporarily bound in brown paper wrappers with cloth spine.

The front wrapper is annotated by hand: "A Civil War / Campaign / including operations / in Louisiana / mentioning / P47 etc. Lt. A. P. Morse / and / P69 Lt. C.N. Morse / Sometimes assigned to / the main force - Gen Richard / Taylor Army / Capt. A. P. Morse, on Gen. Major's / staff 2d Cavalry Division / of Taylor Army of Trans-Mississippi". This copy with the ownership signature of Alexander Porter Morse on the title page, and who presumably made many annotations within the book, including one on page 47 which indicates that during the Battle of Bisland he was ordered to move a section of siege gun to help repel the landing of Union General Grover's boats.

Condition: Wrappers tattered along the edges with some minor loss at the corners; old tape repairs to spine; occasional light scattered foxing and closed tears along the edges of the pages; title page a bit toned; much contemporary marginalia throughout, else very good condition. Quite rare.

    Reference: Howes N167.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
