    Description

Theodore Dreiser. The Financier. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1912.

    First edition. Octavo. 779 pages.

Publisher's light blue cloth, stamped in gold and blue. A bright, crisp copy with very light rubbing to bottom spine edge. Dust jacket is toned along the edges and spine, with light edge wear and chipping at the corners and spine ends. There is a pulled area on the lower portion of the spine and a discoloration near the front fold. A better than very good copy.

First volume of Dreiser's Trilogy of Desire. He based the main character, Frank Cowperwood, on Charles Yerkes. Yerkes was a Chicago streetcar tycoon whose ultimate goal was total control of the city's streetcar lines. Known for his use of blackmail and bribery to achieve his goal, he was never able to totally monopolize the Chicago public transportation system.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
