A massive volume, bound in full brown leather. Gilt stamped spine. Ornately decorated and beveled blindstamped front and back covers. All edges gilt. White moiré endpapers. Covers rubbed, especially to extremities where leather has been almost completely worn away. Endliners reinforced with binder's tape. Portraits and adjacent pages are heavily foxed. Extensive dampstaining, extending several inches from bottom outer corner, affecting most pages and bottom edges of pastedowns, free endpapers and preliminary pages. Book is sturdy and binding is surprisingly sound. Good condition.
