Stuart Palmer. The Penguin Pool Murder. New York: Brentano's Publishers, 1931. First edition. Octavo (7.5 x 5 inches; 190 x 128 mm.). [2, blank], x, [2], 304, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's gray cloth, spine lettered in black, penguin figure stamped in black on front board; in original restored dust jacket. Backstrip and top edge of boards dulled; occasional light soiling. Light offsetting to endpapers. Dust jacket with two long (about three-inches) closed tears to front panel, one near the spine, the other near the flap, expertly repaired with just a touch of restoration; soft vertical crease through the spine panel; misfolded, with folds off less than a quarter-inch; occasional light rubbing or soiling, particularly at folds. A very good restored copy with a nice overall appearance. Ex-Adrian Goldstone with his bookplate. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. Basis for the 1932 RKO Radio Pictures film of the same name starring Edna May Oliver as Miss Hildegarde Withers. From the KoKo Collection.
