    Sir Richard Burton's Pilgrimage to Al-Madinah & Meccah - His Wife's (and Editor's) Copy

Sir Richard Francis Burton. Personal Narrative of a Pilgrimage to Al-Madinah & Meccah. Edited by His Wife, Isabel Burton. In Two Volumes. London: Tylston and Edwards, 1893. Memorial Edition. Isabel Burton's own copy, with her ownership inscription ("Isabel Burtons/copy") on both half-titles (ink in volume I, pencil in volume II). Two octavo volumes. xxviii, [4], 436; xii, [4], 479 pages. With two frontispieces, one folding map, three folding plans, and and thirteen plates inserted throughout. Publisher's full black cloth, boards decoratively stamped in gilt, spines lettered in gilt. Spines just slightly sunned, some rubbing and minor soiling to bindings, light wear to corners, hinges of volume I just starting. Skewed. With occasional pencil markings or notes by historian Byron Farwell. A very good copy with an excellent association.
