Sir Marc Aurel Stein (translated with an Introduction, Commentary and Appendices). Kalhana's Rajatarangini, A Chronicle of the Kings of Kasmir (Kashmir). Volume I. Introduction. Books I-VII, Volume II. Book VIII. Notes. Geographical Memoir. Westminster: Archibald Constable & Co., 1900. First Edition. Two square octavo volumes, (lacking Volume III which had the text in Sanskrit). These two volumes are complete in themselves with a single index to both volumes at the rear of Vol. II. xxxi, 144, [1 foldout genealogical table], 402; vi, 552, 3 corrigenda et addenda (553-555) pages. Later half red leather over paper covered boards, gilt lettering to spines. Creases to boards on Vol. I. Mild cover edge wear, mild marginal worming not affecting text. Title page in Vol. I tissue backed. Faint library stamps (and crude attempts to erase them) on preliminary leaves in both volumes. Half title page (tissue backed) present Vol. II only. A Rare set. Very Good.
This is one of the oldest and fullest records of Kashmir history. Here presented in a scholarly translation with an Introduction and Notes to accompany the text.
