Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title to his friend Ernest d'Hervilly, French poet, playwright, and journalist, "A mon cher et charmant / poëte d'Hervilly / Victor Hugo." 12mo. (7 x 4.63 inches; 177.8 x 117.6 mm). 220 pp. Bound with front wrapper in half blue crushed morocco and blue and black marbled boards, gilt-stamped spine with four raised bands. Corners just bumped; minor edgewear; spine sunned, spine somewhat rubbed. Gray marbled endpapers. Front wrapper slightly creased with minor staining. Internally generally clean with sprinkled edges; minor dampstaining, minor intermittent staining.
