    First edition, one of only ten copies specially boxed with the box containing a pasted-in print signed by Tom Lea; and also signed on the title page of the book: "Tom Lea / El Paso." Octavo. 387 pages. A novel, with drawings by the author.

    Publisher's illustrated cloth, lettered in red on the spine. Top edge stained red. White illustrated dust jacket. Housed in the fall-down-back box specially made by Carl Hertzog, with the following printed on the inside: "Ten copies of the first edition of The Wonderful Country have been especially boxed with a print of the painting by Tom Lea Recuerdo de Lágrimas now owned by H. Frank Connally of Waco." Box has a printed spine label. With the bookplate of William D. Coakley on the front pastedown endpaper, and with a gift inscription on the copyright page: "Merry Xmas Bill / from Dad / 1952." A fine copy. Not in Printer at the Pass.
