Rudyard Kipling: Signed Three-Volume Set of Rudyard Kipling's Verse: Inclusive Edition 1885-1918 (London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1919), limited edition, number 74 of 100, in three volumes, 318, 324 and 292 pages, gilt top edges, other edges untrimmed, cream-colored vellum bindings with gold lettering and decorations, 8vo (6.25" x 8.5"). One of the most popular writers in the English language, Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) signed all three volumes of this limited three-volume edition of his poetry, which includes The Jungle Books, the Just So Stories, "Gunga Din," and many other beloved classics. Many signed multi-volume limited editions include the author's autograph in the first book only, but this set has Kipling's signature opposite the half-title page in all three! The books are in good condition with moderate wear and some warping on the covers; the signature page in volume three has come loose from the binding.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
