    Limited to Twenty-Five Copies

Robert Browning. So Here Then is the Last Ride. Roycrofters: Aurora, 1900.

First edition, thus. Signed by publisher Elbert Hubbard and artist Harriet Robarge. Limited to 25 numbered copies, this being number 7. Octavo. 10 pages.

Full maroon morocco. Gilt-stamped lettering to spine. Raised bands. Blind band designs on boards. Ornate full doublures of inlaid morocco and gilt-stamped designs. Silk moiré endpapers. Printed on vellum. Each page decorated with illumined illustrations. Inked notation on verso of front endpaper, presumably added by Roycrofters staff, reads, "Published and bound by the Roycroft Shop 1900." Laid in is a TLS on Roycrofters letterhead dated Feb. 22, 1901, from Roycrofters secretary, Lyle Hawthorne, in which he says that this book is "the best thing we have done so far." Fine.

A reprint of Browning's poem "The Last Ride Together," originally published in his 1855 collection, Men and Women.

    Broughton A640.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
