Signed First Edition of McMurtry's Book of Essays

Larry McMurtry. In a Narrow Grave: Essays on Texas. Austin: Encino Press, 1968.

First edition, corrected, with page 105, line 12 "skyscrapers." Neatly signed by McMurtry on half-title page. Inscribed by publisher William Wittliff, on rear colophon. Octavo. 177 pages.

Publisher's full gold cloth with paper spine label and author's facsimile signature stamped in black on front board. A fine copy in dust jacket.

A collection of Texas-related essays, covering everything from movie-making to the Astrodome. This copy also signed by Bill Wittliff, owner of the Encino Press, who later went on to acclaim as a highly-respected photographer and writer. For some, Wittliff's greatest contribution to Texas popular culture was his superb script for the television adaptation of McMurtry's Lonesome Dove.
