    Description

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.: Signed First Printing of The Sirens of Titan (Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1961), first hardcover edition, first printing, 319 pages, dark blue cloth with white lettering on spine and front board, 8vo (5" x 8.25"), no dust jacket, protective Mylar on boards. Vonnegut has signed his name inside an illustrated caricature, also drawn by the erudite author, in blue ink on the half title page. The Sirens of Titan, Vonnegut's second book, was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1960, the first of three nominations for the Hugo he achieved in his lifetime. Interestingly, Vonnegut sold the film rights to Jerry Garcia of the rock band The Grateful Dead, who attempted to adapt the story for years. After Garcia's death, Vonnegut exercised his option to buy back the film rights. This copy is about very good, with shaken hinges and general shelf wear present. A rare chance to obtain a signed copy of one of Vonnegut's early science fiction novels.
