    Description

    Wonderful Signed Early Vonnegut

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. Cat's Cradle. New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, [1963].

First edition, first printing. Signed by Vonnegut on the front free endpaper. Octavo. 233 pages.

Publisher's full green cloth with blue panel along fore-edge of front board. Stamped in blue and gilt on spine and front. Top edge stained green. Slightly rubbed spine ends, otherwise a crisp copy. Dust jacket is lightly rubbed with minor chipping at spine ends. There is a one-inch folded tear beginning at upper corner of rear panel. Overall, a near fine copy.

In 1963, Graham Greene called Cat's Cradle "one of the three best novels of the year by one of the most able living writers." Interestingly, this novel earned Vonnegut a Master's degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago upon its release, a degree he was not able to earn while a student there just after returning from World War II.
