    Description

    John Le Carre: Signed Call for the Dead (New York: Walker and Company, 1962), first edition, 192 pages, green-cloth binding with blue lettering, (5.75" x 8.25"), dust jacket (in protective sleeve). Famous spy novelist John Le Carre was born David John Moore Cornwell in Poole, Dorset, England, in 1931. A Call for the Dead, his first novel, introduced the character of George Smiley, who returned in such later works as A Murder of Quality and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. The title page is beautifully signed "John le Carre". The book is in very good condition with some light staining at the bottom of the spine. The dust jacket is in fair condition with staining and pieces missing at the corners and top of the spine.
