John F. Kennedy: Inscribed and Signed Copy of his Classic Book Profiles in Courage. Inscribed: "To my favorite God-mother, with love + best wishes - John Kennedy."
First published in 1955, Profiles in Courage recounted moments of courage by public figures from John Quincy Adams to Robert Taft. Favorably reviewed and widely read, the book is credited with an important role in young Kennedy's building the stature which made him a credible presidential hopeful in 1960. As such, autographed copies are much sought-after by collectors. The present copy does have some condition issues. The pages are partially dog-eared and a chunk is missing from the final 9 pages and the back cloth cover. The damage also extends to the dust cover although the front-aside from separating along the spine-is displayable. The flyleaf shows some age browning and an old tape mark, but the signed inscription is clear.
