According to Hammond and Anderson, in September 1960, Houghton Mifflin allowed Farmer Giles of Ham to go out of print in the U.S., allowing the American publication rights to revert to Allen & Unwin who then offered the rights to Thomas Nelson & Sons. In March 1962, Nelson & Sons sold 3,000 copies of Farmer Giles, 2,000 of which were imported from Allen & Unwin with cancel titles (as seen here) and 1,000 more with sheets from the first impression imported by Houghton Mifflin (dated 1950).
