Francis Trevelyan Miller. The World in the Air. The Story of Flying in Pictures. New York and London: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1930.

First edition, "Pioneer" edition limited to 500 numbered sets signed by the author and aviation pioneers of the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany including: Henri Farman, Louis Bleriot, Glenn Curtiss, Arthur Whitten Brown, G. Herbert Scott, Claude Dornier and Dr. Hugo Eckener. Printed on ragleaf paper. Over 1,200 photogravure illustrations. Two quarto volumes. 315 and 336 pages respectively.

Half parchment binding with copper colored decorative paper over boards. Gilt titles on black leather spine labels. Matching marbled endpapers. Hinge cracked and nearly separated between the first and second front free endpaper. Many pages uncut. Corners slightly bumped. Light shelf wear. Contents sound and tight. Very good.

A beautiful set with illustrations from the "Golden Age" of aviation. Especially desirable with the signatures synonymous with early aviation development.
