Description

Inscribed by Burroughs to Maureen Farrow

Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Son of Tarzan. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, [1917]. Reprint. Black and White illustrations by J. Allen St. John. Inscribed by Burroughs on the free front endpaper: "To / Maureen Farrow / with love, and best wishes / Edgar Rice Burroughs / Tarzana". Octavo. 394 pp. Publisher's red cloth, stamped in black. Top edge stained gray-green. Cloth on spine worn at top and bottom with some loss, covers and spine soiled and worn (especially along the joints), corners bumped and wearing through, light spotting to the spine which is slightly faded. A bit of soiling to the edges. Rear hinge cracked, a few pages with small tears to the bottom fore-edge corners with some loss. Altogether, and despite the mentioned flaws, still a very good attractive copy and a great association.
[Together with:] Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Son of Tarzan. New York: A.L. Burt, 1918. Reprint. Black and White illustrations by J. Allen St. John. A worn and soiled reading copy.
