Limited Edition signed by D. H. Lawrence, One of Only 150 Copies

    D. H. Lawrence. Sun. Paris: The Black Sun Press, 1928. First unexpurgated edition, limited to 150 copies on Holland Van Gelder Zonen to be sold at the Bookshop of Harry Marks, New York. There were an additional 15 copies printed on Japanese vellum but they were not signed. Boldly signed "D. H. Lawrence" on a slip tipped in and centered on the half-title page. Octavo. 38 pages. With a color illustration by the author used as the frontispiece. Cream paper wrappers printed in black and red on the cover. Top edge trimmed, all others untrimmed. A fine, bright copy with the original glassine wraps and housed in the original gold foil folder with pink ribbon ties. Contents with scattered light foxing.

It is said that Harry and Caresse Crosby of The Black Sun Press sent Lawrence as payment three pieces of gold in a snuff box that had once belonged to the Queen of Naples.
