An Interesting Association Copy, Signed by Both Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Anne Morrow Lindbergh. North to the Orient. With Maps by Charles A. Lindbergh. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, [1935].

First edition. Inscribed to Dr. Albert H. Ebeling, signed by both Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh on the half-title page. Octavo. 255 pages. Photo frontispiece, maps, appendix.

Publisher's silver-stamped blue cloth. Top edge blue. Map endpapers. Binding slightly cocked. Else fine.

This copy is inscribed in Charles Lindbergh's hand to Dr. Albert H. Ebeling, a long-time colleague of vascular researcher and eugenicist Alexis Carrel, recipient of the 1912 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Lindbergh and Carrel later collaborated on the development of a perfusion pump which allowed human organs to survive ex vivo, an important advance in the development of organ transplants. Charles Lindbergh's association with the controversial Carrel -- who promoted the notion of genetic superiority of certain human strains -- led in part to the persistent accusations of anti-Semitism leveled against Lindbergh.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
