Milne to front free endpaper recto, "To my Dorothy - / with the author's heart. / January 23, 1913. / [and her name was "really Dorothy," after all!] Octavo. [x], 312 pages. With "Methuen's Popular Novels" dated Autumn 1912 and "A Selection of Books Published by Methuen and Co." dated July 1912 at back. Publisher's original blind-stamped green cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, cream colored endpapers. Minor edgewear, corners just bumped, minor staining to front board. Front and fore-edges trimmed, some internal foxing, primarily to front matter, but text block generally very clean. Overall very good. With Dorothy Milne's bookplate to front pastedown.[Together with:] A. A. Milne. The Pocket Milne. New York: E. P. Dutton & Co., 1941. First edition. Signed and inscribed to front free endpaper recto, "For / Margarite Gaus / with best wishes / from / A. A. Milne / Christmas, 1948." Octavo. [viii], 215 pages. Publisher's red cloth stamped in navy blue, cream colored endpapers. Spine sunned, corners bumped and a little rubbed, all edges trimmed. Endpapers slightly discolored but text block clean and bright. Very good+.

With illustrations by E. H. Shepard. Printed pictorial boards, illustrated endpapers. Minor wear but internally clean. Original pictorial dust jacket, somewhat toned, with minor wear and some chipping. With original (?) glassine, torn and chipped. Very good.
