    [E. E. "Doc" Smith. Second-Stage Lensmen]. [N.p.: n.d., 1941].
Original typescript (ribbon copy) on yellow paper. Inscribed by the author in pencil at the head of the first page: "6/5/41 [underlined]/To my old and very critical friend-the chief Communications officer of the Galactic Roamers, with/thanks for his assistance-from Edward E Smith P.h.D." Large quarto (10.8125 x 8.4375 inches). [370] pages (numbered irregularly 1-373). Double-spaced on rectos only. With numerous corrections, additions, and deletions in pencil, colored pencil (red, blue, and green), and ink. Additions typed on the verso of page 178, and written in pencil on the verso of page 369. Pencil note at foot of page 293: "To Battle Creek/May 2, 1941." Some minor edge browning and occasional soiling. Tiny abrasion to upper blank margin of first leaf.

Bound in full gray buckram ruled and lettered in red on front cover and spine. Mounted on the front pastedown is a color illustration of "Skylark Smith," most likely cut from the cover of the Oct. 1939 issue of Astounding Science-Fiction (Gray Lensman was first published serially in Astounding Science-Fiction, October 1939-January 1940). Binding lightly rubbed. Tape residue around the edges of the front pastedown. "M245" written in pencil at upper corner of front free endpaper. Housed in a burgundy cloth slipcase with black leather label on spine decoratively stamped and lettered in gilt.

Second Stage Lensmen was first published serially in Astounding Science-Fiction, 1941-42. The first book edition, illustrated by Ric Binkley, was published in 1953 by Fantasy Press, Reading, Pennsylvania. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
