Description"Diamond Ted" Lewis: His Personal Scrapbook Encompassing Decades as a Trick Shooter and Wild West Show Personality. This massive 19" x 23" volume is some 5" thick, and includes hundreds of photos (many autographed), flyers, other promotional pieces, clippings and more.
The tooled leather-embellished cover shows expected wear, as do the edges of the pages. But the contents are in generally good condition, with many items or pages detached. A few examples are to be found with our website description of this lot. One of the most noteworthy items is an original 7" x 9" signed pencil sketch of a horse's head, inscribed: "TO Diamond Ted Lewis with Best regards from Olaf Wieghorst, Madison Square Garden 1939," (affixed to removed album page). Wieghorst is regarded as one of the top 20th century Western artists.
Most items date from the 1920s and 1930s, with a smattering from the 1940s.
Even after closely perusing the scrap book, there were treasures that were overlooked. Of significant importance was is a 1928 contract for Diamond Ted Lewis and his wife for the Wild West and Great Far East Show Company, and 1929-dated missive from Joseph Miller on 101 Ranch letterhead explaining the whereabouts and how Mr. Lewis could rejoin the travelling show. One of the neatest performer's scrapbooks we have ever encountered.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
