    State proof copy numbered I/V and signed by Robinson, including an extra suite of the fifty-five wood engravings, two working proofs of each of the engravings, and three state proofs of the etching of Shakespeare. Also with two original pencil drawings, one of a wolf, the other a lion, inscribed especially to the original owner. Folio. [iv], 87 pages. Fifty-five wood engravings and an etched portrait of Shakespeare by Alan James Robinson. Text by Arthur F. Kinney. Designed by Robinson and Kinney. Printed by Harold McGrath. Marbled endpapers by Faith Harrison. Books bound by Claudia Cohen and Sarah Creighton.

    Bound in full burnt-orange morocco, with gilt lettering and black-stamped rules. Five raised bands. Marbled endpapers. Suites of engravings and proofs laid into two cloth chemises. All housed in a full cloth clamshell box with a gilt-stamped leather title label. Fine.

    Original text by Arthur F. Kinney, Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, addressing the natural history, the folklore, and the mythology of the birds and beasts in Shakespeare's plays, illustrated with Alan James Robinson's delightful artwork. The tenth anniversary publication from the Cheloniidae Press.
